This Pub is Permanently Closed

After eight years closed, the Rose reopened in April 2019. The old interior was completely ripped-out and the pub was refurbished inside and out.

There were four lines for Real Ales and there were plans for guest ales in polypins. There was a separate restaurant area (the landlady already had a successful catering business in Bramford) and a nice outside drinking area.

The pub closed mid-2026 and is reported to be undergoing conversion to a restaurant.

Historic Interest

A report in the Ipswich Journal** in Feb 1890 states that : An announcement of the death on 15th, at the Rose Inn, Crowfield, of Alfred Pipe, aged 59 years. In Jan 1981 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that the pub name was changed from Rose to Kicking Dickey (Donkey).
