This is a restaurant, where drinking alcohol, including draught and bottled beer, is only allowed when food is being consumed.

Clarence Yard opened as a Bakery in the late 19th Century and over the years has had many identities, including a stationers, flour mill, a bar and it is now a fish 'n' chip shop. The building has become an iconic location within Southend’s community, known by multiple generations for one of its many faces all of which contributing to it’s rich history. In 2016 the building was purchased by Stockvale, who were eager to restore the Clarence Yard to its former glory and ensured that they had the people who knew how. A full restoration began of the exterior and interior and after extensive work was completed in October of 2017 and opened as a high-quality, family friendly restaurant.
