Opened in 1962, one of the first pubs to be opened in the area for over a hundred years, the Yew Tree is built on the corner of Grimshaw Lane and Yew Tree Road and was a Higson’s pub. It was run for over 32 years by Les and Lynette Baker and did feature in the Good Beer Guide in the past. Since they retired in December 2022 the pub has had a checkered few years but now owned by Red Oak Taverns it has recently been refurbished and re-opened just before Christmas under the stewardship of Brian and Rachel who have thrown themselves into making the pub a success. Starting their journey with two Timothy Taylor beers and with a desire to add some guest beers in the future their focus in on running a pub for the community with sports TV available, darts and future food aspirations they need your support in making this a success.
