A welcoming inn situated on the main road along a deep, narrow gorge and beneath the local landmark of Eagles Crag – ask the landlord about the legend of the White Doe.

The Eagles Crag Pale Eagle may occasionally be replaced by another of their beers, whilst Boltmaker may be offered instead of one of the regular Timothy Taylor beers. The guest beer generally hails from breweries in the East Lancashire area, and the ciders are often from the Lilley's range.

High quality food is served in the cosy split level room and in the arched former cellar - booking is advisable at weekends. The changing artwork from local artists is for sale.

The car park is on Knotts Road, about 70 metres on the Todmorden side of the pub.
