Large 500 year old Coaching Inn built in the shadow of the parish church. The Red Lion is one of only two Thwaites outlets in Shropshire (the other being in Oakengates), and is a popular, comfortable and attractively presented pub. The lounge/bar is L-shaped with all tables laid for dining. There is a separate area for drinkers, complete with a pool table, down some steps to the rear. The local tourist honeypot of the Mere is a short walk away. Was once a part of the extensive local estate of the Shrewsbury & Wem Brewery.
