Apparently the largest thatched pub in the country, the Old Crown was built in the 1930s, replacing an older pub on the site. Structurally, little has changed since apart from the removal of one internal wall. Centrally located imposing bar. The parquet floor is original but the fireplace is repro. Much of the pub is taken up by three dining areas although there is still space for drinks only customers. A floor to gable southwest facing window allows sunlight to flood in. Rear decking area with large garden beyond.

Following a six-figure refurb it reopened in early February 2018 and was leased from Greene King by Stuart Inns. It was closed again in early 2019 but now seems more settled under the wing of the people who also run the Plough in Coton. Although the building is owned by Greene King the pub is free of tie. Elgood's Cambridge Bitter (brewed in Wisbech) is their regular ale.

On 1 August 2024 the pub reopened under new licensees as part of the Lapen Inns group offering Nepalese cuisine.
