Located in an elevated position on the crest of a hill the views from nearby the pub are spectacular, with a vista extending far over the Forest of Dean towards the Black Mountains of Wales. The view from the bar of the Mount Pleasant itself, however, merely overlooks the main road. A colourful, but chipped, 'Best in the West - West Country Ales' ceramic plaque survives on the front of the pub.

The exterior of the Mount Pleasant has recently been painted, a refurbishment that saw the removal of the hanging pub sign. It now operates on flexible and restricted opening times, usually weekends only.
