Post-war estate pub, the Longbow was "opened in April 1968. The inn was opened by three members of the Sherwood Archers dressed in Lincoln green, Wright and Curtis tell us (p.3). This is a broad, low building with a ‘U’-shaped plan, comprising a central lounge bar, set between two entrances with lavatories that lead to a public bar and an assembly room set back on either side. There seem to have been new bar fronts, though that to the lounge may be wholly or partly still original. DC/A/4/12/66/513, plans by Reginald Cooper, 12 December 1966, to which a skittle alley was added in 1967 but these plans (DC/A/4/12/67/565, Arnold UDC) do not survive, and neither it seems does the alley. The plans show the central lounge, set between two entrance halls and sets of lavatories on the front (that to the right with a telephone booth. To the right is the long public bar, to the left was only a small lounge hall that was later extended into the private yard behind. This may have been the skittle alley, or it might have been in a rear garden shelter behind the pub, served by another entrance hall and set of lavatories at the rear of the long public bar.
