This imposing building was previously called The Paxton after Joseph Paxton, designer of the Crystal Palace that housed the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park in 1851 and was then relocated just down the road from the pub until being destroyed by fire in 1936. Having being closed for almost 3 years, the venue was comprehensively refurbished in a vibrant, contemporary style and reopened under its new name in Nov 2025 in partnership between the MOBO Group and Greene King. MOBO aims to create an inclusive community and cultural hub celebrating Black culture. The food menu focuses on African and Caribbean fusion dishes.
