Located at the top of the High Street near the station, and overlooking Harpenden common, this Victorian era former Railway Hotel has creatively zoned main drinking and dining areas with a secluded ground floor snug drinking area. Upstairs a more formal dining room also caters for private functions. Along with the Fuller’s family-owned range of beers, a guest beer from other breweries is also served. Live music is played on Fridays.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers (The Harpenden Arms uses two of its' four handpumps for guests. On visiting, these were Fullers 180th Anniversary Ale and ESB on a second handpump. The pub also serves a range of craft, keg beers from the Fuller's brewery portfolio range and other breweries.) and 2 regular beers.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
The northern end of the Market is dominated by St. Peter’s church, one of the three churches originally built by the Saxon’s on the main pilgrim routes into St. Albans. Soak up the history and architecture of the area, as well as music history!
This area is packed with history and interesting pubs, some open, and some no longer with us.
