Fabulous building dating back to 1914, when it was the King George. But sadly, no real ale for some time. It was Reks, a bar/restaurant for a couple of years but closed in August 2015.

Re-opened on 2nd Sept 2016 as a Restaurant and bar catering for all age groups. You will still not find real ale here and the keg range has been reduced. They aim to source food locally.

Very nice comfy seating outside.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
