This pub is a 17th-century free house with stone-flagged floors, exposed beams and log fires. Excellent locally-sourced food is served and a private dining room (seating 12) can be reserved. Farmer Jims and Orchard Pig ciders are served. Accommodation is provided with three bedrooms.

Legend has it that Judge Jeffreys (The Hanging Judge) sat and held court in the public bar.
