Nestling in a corner of historic Boroughbridge’s market square, this 13th Century inn is popular with locals and visiting tourists alike. A Grade II-listed gem, well-kept and comfortably furnished, it also has a resident ghost. The pub comprises a small cosy snug and a larger bar with open fires and good-value beers served through a small hatch, and to the rear is a further drinking and dining area. A short distance away lies the ancient Roman site of Aldborough (Isurium Brigantum).
