The Black Horse is a community local and has two distinct drinking and eating areas. There is a classic public bar and a lounge eating area with lots of bric-a-brac. A large garden is equipped with a gazebo with seating which can also be used for parties and BBQS throughout the year. Pub is closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

the road from outside of the pub was once the main road from Barnet to Rugby.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
