A Grade II listed coaching inn turned pub originating from the 16th century which was purchased by villagers in 1998 to keep somewhere central for them to meet as a community following closure of other key services. Old beams, inglenook fireplace, sloping walls and quiet nooks and crannies for drinking and eating make the pub a welcome stop off on the A345 as well as locally brewed ales. The pub is one of only a handful in the country which has a gantry with the pub sign hanging over the road. Voted The Best Rural Pub in the UK 2018 by the Countryside Alliance and collected their award from the House of Lords.
