This was a Greene King 'Hungry Horse' family pub-diner which closed in March 2024 following severe flooding. It became privately owned and reopened in August 2025 after repairs and refurbishment.
Located by the Grand Union Canal, on the northern edge of Watermead Country Park. Mooring available for boats. The pub kas an open-plan interior with tables available for eating or drinking. There is a children's play area outside, and a delightful canalside beer garden. The menu features traditional pub food from snacks to steaks, with an extensive children's menu. The pub is very popular on hot summer days.
Historic Interest
According to the Leicester Mercury, Percy Barradale of the Syston Brewery (Queen Victoria) was brewing here ca.1899-1901. The pub was later owned by Grand Metropolitan (Watney's). Until March 2024, Greene King ran the pub as a Hungry Horse family restaurant.
