The main bar to the front of the house has genuine diamond shaped leaded lights set in masonry window frames, exposed ceiling joists and a log burning stove set in an inglenook fireplace. There is a small snug annex to the bar and a large dining room to the rear of the pub. At the back is a heated paved courtyard and to the front are picnic tables along the bank of Medbourne Brook. Extensions at the back of the pub accommodate hotel rooms. The restaurant-quality food is quite pricey. There are no regular buses to Medbourne; 'demand response' services may be available.

Historic Interest

The initials MGN over the front door are those of Captain Nevill who was heir to the nearby Holt estate when this former coaching inn was rebuilt in 1863 after the original building was destroyed by fire in 1856. Folklore suggests that a spark caused the fire after the village blacksmith wagered he could support an anvil on his chest while a horseshoe was forged upon it.
