Café.

Smart café on the High Street. An inn called the Tabord recorded on the site in 1391 was enlarged and expanded in 1510 to become the Angel, Oxford's most important coaching inn which closed in 1866. In 1650, according to many sources, England's first coffee house was opened in the Angel. When the hotel closed the lease was taken on by Francis Cooper who ran a grocery business from no. 84. In 1867 his son Frank inherited the business and Frank's wife Sarah started selling her surplus marmalade in the shop in 1874. This was such a success that Frank moved to the Jam Factory in Park End Street in 1900. The shop remained open until 1919 and then became a variety of shops until 1997 when it became the Grand Café. Coffee, cake, and high tea served all day. Also has cocktails and some beer in bottles.
