This Pub is Permanently Closed

A Fayre & Square pub with a Wackey Warehouse in the middle of a large roundabout at the junction of the A34 and A51. Probably originally a coaching inn with numerous rooms but there have been many alterations over the years and it is now largely opened out, although still with distinct areas & floor levels. The Wacky Warehouse and its customers are not as intrusive as in some pubs in the chain. Closed in 2018. Planning permission refused early 2019 for demolition and replacement with petrol station, KFC & retail unit; also dismissed at appeal Decision date: 22 June 2020 Appeal Ref: APP/Y3425/W/19/3227057. Reasons for refusal include a failure to provide safe access on foot for pedestrians and for related highways impacts.
