16th-century former coaching inn at the heart of village life. The modernised open interior has a spacious L-shaped lounge bar with comfortable table seating and settees in front of a huge old fireplace containing a log-burning stove. There is a separate area for dining and a further separate dining room. The pub is reputedly haunted by a friendly ghost called Mary. There is a key in a recess above the lounge fireplace which, if moved, is said to bring bad luck to those concerned. Wednesday evenings alternate between quiz and bingo.
