Reopened on 2nd December 2023 as ""Welles & Cross", previously it was the Ring O' Bells, once a Burtonwood street corner local tied house and up till the pandemic privately owned opening 2 evenings per week.

Completely altered and renovated in 2023, now a smart, comfortable upmarket bar with wood burner at one end. Extra seating is available upstairs. A handpump was installed in 2024 and there is always a changing golden style beer either from local breweries or often Ossett White Rat. Food is on offer, mainly in evenings. There is a popular quiz night on a Wednesday (best done on an iPad!), and music on Saturdays from 7 - 10pm and Sundays from 3 to 6, usually a contemporary solo artist.
