This large, popular former Greenall Whitley pub has a prominent position next to the Commons car park and Sandbach's main bus stop. The beer range includes Timothy Taylor Landlord as a house bear and there is almost always one beer from local brewer, Beartown. At lease two other real ales are usually available from a variety of breweries. The pub has a comfortable, open-plan layout, with light wood floors and a large open fire in the left hand bar. The dart board in the right hand bar is a popular feature. Due to its proximity to the both the outdoor (Thursday) and indoor markets, the Military is particularly popular on market day. There are picnic tables at the front of the pub and a large attractive beer garden at the rear.
