A former coal miners' inn near to the site of Neston Colliery which closed in 1927. Converted from two cottages, it has a public bar with real fire in winter and a basic lounge. Both rooms have quarry-tiled floors, low ceilings and exposed beams, In a glorious location on the new Deeside to Neston part of the national cycle network, the pub overlooks the Dee Marshes and North Wales with a large garden and a drinking area abutting the edge of the marshes. Evening meals only on Tuesday - Curry night, booking advisable. Access has been significantly improved following much needed resurfacing work on the road leading to the pub - although a couple of times a year the road can be flooded but rarely impassable at high tide.

Historic Interest

Originally three cottages built in 1750 and combined and then known as Hay House. Two of the cottages were converted to the pub in 1780. In the 1820s known as the Welsh Harp and listed under that name in Pigot's Directory of 1828-29 but was renamed the Harp Inn from at least 1856. Owned by the Argyle Brewery, Birkenhead until transferred to the Birkenhead Brewery in 1866. The old photo shows the pub about 1910.
