The Kings Head is a welcoming 15th-century country pub in the historic village of Bildeston. Originally a wool warehouse in the 1400s, it was converted to a hostelry in the 16th century with landlord records dating back to 1766. This cosy local inn features a high timber framed ceiling, an inglenook fireplace with a bar serving local cask ales as well as a selection of hand-picked artisan wines to drink in or take away (from the micro wine shop).

Every Friday and Saturday a 2 course set dinner is available, using seasonal, local and responsibly-sourced produce.

Historic Interest

A report in the Ipswich Journal*** in Dec 1860 states that : The marriage took place on the 27th November 1860 by the Rev. J Gedge, Mr Jabez Osborn, grocer & draper, to Emily daughter of Mr W Squirr A report in the Bury & Norfolk Post & Suffolk Herald** on 19 Dec in 1885 makes reference to :Charles RALPH, of the King's Head Inn, Bildeston whose bar window had been smashed. Originally a three bar inn with a number of letting rooms. In 2007 many of the larger public spaces were closed - i.e. lounge bar & pool room - to retain just a single public bar with all the other rooms now converted into separate private accommodation. The adjacent space which was also used as both a shop & a restaurant in recent years has also since been converted for private usage. Brew-pub since 1996
