A timber framed pub with quarry-tiled floors and a separate restaurant.

The bar also features a wood-burner and a real fire.

There are regular themed food nights and regular music nights including Jazz on the first Sunday of every month and unplugged acoustic sessions every third Tuesday of the month.

Monthly Quiz nights are held on the second Tuesday.

A beer festival held in August.

There are plans plans to add a shop and other facilities.

IT IS ADVISABLE TO BOOK FOR FOOD IN ADVANCE.

The pub is run by a community-interest company on behalf of the village and is located at the far-western edge of the village, almost in Little Finborough.

Historic Interest

The pub's name shows it to have been a haunt of Whigs during the 17th century, as punch was their preferred drink. Their rival Tories preferred old-fashioned wines. After long & protracted negotiations by a group of determined village folks, a lease was signed for the pub to re-open as the Battisford Punch Bowl Community Inn. Said to be Suffolk's first Community Inn, much refurbishment work was done, with the pub finally re-opening late June 2011. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/1079 - It was historically listed as being in Upper town, i.e. Combs. and is technically in that parish, as the boundary between Combs & Battisford runs through the car park in front of the pub.
