Victorian brick-built privately-owned free-house, with a warm friendly atmosphere, and is now the only pub left in the village.

The comfortable public bar and smart cosy lounge both feature open fires and beamed ceilings. Intricate encased models of a Burton union brewing system can be found in the public bar and in the function room.

Fairly standard pub lunches, from snacks to main meals, limited to filled cobs and chips on Sundays. 'Pop-up' food van, often pizzas, on alternate Wednesday evenings and sometimes at other times; see Facebook page.

Meeting place for local book club and falconry club. The National Forest Forestry Centre is located about half a mile away.

Historic Interest

The original pub (listed in an 1821 directory) was located in the cottages next door (to west). The existing building was purpose built circa 1900 (some uncertainty). A Marston’s pub until 1993 (no known earlier owner), when bought by present owners.
