A 19th-century village pub, this Good Beer Guide regular of some 40 years ago was revived in 2009 as a lively and popular free-house after more than a decade of neglect.
Tastefully renovated with extensive use of wood, the bright and airy main room is divided into "bar" and "lounge" areas by glass-topped wood partitions. A separate small snug, served through a hatch, features a bar billiards table.
Guest beer often sourced from local micro-breweries. Free cheese board weekday evenings and weekend lunchtimes.
Quiz night Tuesday (which is why the pub stays open later!).
