Grade II listing:- Public house. Mid-1860s. Stock brick with stucco bands and dressings, slate roofs with party wall stacks. EXTERIOR: 4 storeys and cellars with projecting ground floor bar to front. Upper floors 4 windows wide with sash windows in architrave surrounds, with pilasters to sides, and rising through third floor from broad second-floor band to carry central segmental pediment decorated with the Prince of Wales' feathers. Projecting bow on first floor. Broad first-floor band over carriage entrance continued as cornice to projecting ground floor bar. Large paned windows with acid etched glass, perhaps renewed, set between granite piers with Corinthian capitals. INTERIOR a remarkable survival. The long, narrow space is divided into front and back bars, served by a long counter to left, by late C19 glazed screen with acid etched decoration within Queen Anne style panels with small lights above and below central panels with curved tops. Round-headed opening with keystone serves bar; later opening in centre for customers. Turned balusters between screen and ceiling. C19 counter heavily splayed, with bar back. Front bar top lit by clerestory. Both bars with thin cornices, matchboard panelling to front bar, which also has moulded beams to ceiling. Included as an example of a mid-C19 public house which retains an unusual number of later C19 fittings.
