Pub named after William Dampier who was born in nearby East Coker and who was the first Englishman to explore parts of what is today Australia, and the first person to circumnavigate the world three times.

As you enter there is a bar on the left usually with a range of eight cask ales and four real ciders offering an impressive range for discerning drinkers.

Reopened in April 2025 after refurbishment with increased covers for diners and a new beer garden for the summer.
