A report in the Ipswich Journal** in Aug 1800 states that : "Friday last, Mr Titus Manning, of the Tollgate Inn, near Bury, married Miss Spink, of Fornham All Saints." A report in the Ipswich Journal*** on 26 Sep in 1838 states that : "On 20 Sep 1838, Mr Henry Rudland, son of Mr John RUDLAND of the Tolgate Inn, Bury, married Miss Elizabeth Mayhew, Bury" A report in the Bury & Norwich Post** in 1847 (Mar-24 ) stated that: "At 4pm March 20th, 1847 the thatch of the Tollgate caught fire probably by soot from the chimney. Before the engine could get there the roof was in flames & the house destroyed, the store next door containing beer was preserved by plentiful water. The furniture was got out. The pub was the property of Sir Thomas Cullum. Bart." A report in the Ipswich Journal*** on 08 Jun in 1858 states that : "Tollgate Inn, Fornham, to be let, the old-established inn, at Michaelmas, with 29 acres of rich pasture land, situate within half-a-mile of Bury Station.
