Now a hotel with a public bar; it seemed to operate as a members' club for some time (from about 1998). The bar is now only open to hotel guests and Travellers' Choice Club members.

Historic Interest

Also listed as being in Stoke green (in 1839), in Great Whip St. (1844), at 30 Wherstead Rd (1865) & at 39 Wherstead Rd (1871 & 1874). The hotel is made up of a number of old buildings, some of which are listed & date from the 16th or 17th century.
