The bar is the remaining part of the Royal Hotel which served a long gone ferry. The hotel burnt down in 1981, leaving the gates and the public bar. Magnificent interior granite pillars indicate the previous splendour. The bar closed around 2018 but re-opened under new management in May 2021 with real ale making an appearance in September of that year. Sadly, the real ale ceased and handpump was removed in March 2025.

Opening hours can be extended if busy.
