Queens Head, Northfleet

The Queens Head began life as The Crown in 1636. Renamed in 1718, it was at one time a staging post. It was rebuilt in 1906 and is known to have been part of the local Russell's brewery tied estate around that time. It probably passed to Truman's on takeover in 1930, but had become free of tie by the 1970s and for a while - unusual for the area at the time - offered a good selection of real ales.

By the new millennium its popularity had waned, probably because real ale was no longer on offer, and sadly time was called for good in 2009. The building survives and has since housed at least two varieties of restaurant.
