This pub, with its tile-hung mansard roof, is one of the most attractive in town. It dates from the 1780s and is a former coaching inn. There is a bar area at the front and a restaurant area at the back which is laid for diners but can be used by drinkers. Following a major refurbishment in spring 2018 there is now a focus on good quality food. As well as a small outside seating area at the front there is a large terraced garden at the back. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, there are some board games and a wood burning fire. Major terrestrial sports may be shown. The accessible toilet can be used for baby changing. There may occasionally be another beer available and the hours may change in the future.

There are a couple of shallow steps into the bar from the front entrance but none from the side entrance. The bar has no steps and there is an accessible toilet at the back with grab rails on the door, by the sink and toilet. There is a Radar Key behind the bar. There are steps up to the garden but there is a steep alley by the side which gives step free access to one of the terraces. The two tables in front of the pub do not have steps but are often taken.
