This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.

Despite its name, the "Golf Club" might initially appear not to be a club and hasn’t a golf course! Looks can be deceptive!

This clubhouse is a smallish white bungalow building, without any obvious signage. It is set in its own walled grounds, in the middle of a large housing suburb. However inside is a full blown, lovely and friendly, old and traditional golf club!

The building has three public rooms. The main bar (also called the 19th hole!), which is entered directly from the front porch and a snooker room behind, are both decorated in traditional wooden panelling on the walls and have lots of golfing memorabilia, historic photographs and trophies on display. The third room is a side Lounge/Snug with comfortable seating. The lounge also holds a lending library, allowing you to read in comfort whilst enjoying a drink!

The clubhouse dates to 1911, when both the golf club and a full high class 18-hole golf course opened on site. However, in 1946 the course grounds were lost under a compulsory purchase order! And the major housing estates of Aberavon and Sandfields were built on the land, surrounding the remaining clubhouse and its private carpark.

The clubhouse has survived ever since as a private members club, although the public are also most welcome and functions for up to 50 people are often held. The only regular opening period is on Sunday afternoons. But the club is often open at other times by prior arrangement and advertised on social media. The mobile phone number shown is that of the club secretary. There is one Cask Ale handpump on the bar, but this is only used when special events are hosted.
