The Club was founded in 1939 at the combined initiatives of the British and Polish governments. It still provides a hub for the Polish community in Britain and London in particular; membership is open to people of Polish nationality or descent, or those connected with Poland and its people.

The house dates from around 1870 and it is owned freehold. Facilities include a restaurant, bar, and ballroom/conference room. The restaurant and bar on the ground floor are open for lunch, dinner or drinks seven days a week. As might be expected, the food offering veers towards Polish and the bar serves a variety of vodkas!
