Built in 1866 by J Beale, on the ground floor is an almost-island bar, whilst upstairs is a lounge bar with chesterfield-type sofas and an 8ft projector screen for cinema events. There is also a roof garden for when the sun shines. This is a Chelsea supporter-friendly pub for home games.

Note restricted opening hours; Kitchen closed as of 30 October 2024.

Historic Interest

Under its previous name, the Coleherne pub was popular with gay men throughout the post-war period. It is perhaps best known from the decade of the 1970s when the pub was run as a "leather bar" with blacked-out windows, and patronised amongst others by lead singer of rock band Queen, Freddie Mercury. Regrettably three separate serial killers also used the pub as a pickup point for their intended victims; the most well-known being Colin Ireland, also referred to as The Gay Slayer who murdered five victims he met at the pub.
