Welcoming 400-year-old country pub. The friendly staff are smartly attired with equally smart food and drink offerings. Free of tie, the guest ales are usually interesting microbrews. The cosy bar is dog-friendly, while the wood-panelled lounge is the setting for freshly cooked meals including interesting specials. Both rooms feature old beams and open fires. Plenty of walkable routes around the venue.
