A long established town centre pub with an impressive frontage including the main and recently repaired stained glass plus the etched windows either side. It is much larger than it appears from the outside with a narrow but comfortable lounge leading to a conservatory area and out to a beer garden and smoking area. The pub has a community feel and the pool table attracts a regular trade, however the Karaoke often dominates.

Historic Interest

Note the mosaic under the front bow window (see photos), this includes the initials MB. This is for Manchester Brewery Ltd who owned the pub from 1899 until 1912 when the company went out of business. The pub passed to Walker & Holmfrays who Wilsons took over in 1949. The mosaic is unique. See also photos of recovered 'old' wines & spirits signs from beneath the first floor windows. In 1982 it was a Wilsons pub selling Mild and Bitter (H)
