Victorian back-street terraced house a few minutes' walk from the cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and the bus station. The main bar has a cosy wood burner, a wooden floor (hand-stencilled by the landlady) and a jukebox. At the back is a long bright conservatory where there is a range of board games. Beer festivals are held on Whitsun and August bank holiday weekends in the pub and the attractive garden. Large whisky and gin selection. Interesting and ever-changing seven cask beers. Local CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2022.

Accommodation is be available on the upper floors of the pub: self-catering for 4/5 people. Can be booked through Airbnb.

Accessibility description.Two 16 cm steps into the pub, handle on the left. Back gate. Wheelchair access is a difficult steep ramp and narrow gate leading to a gravel and slab garden, a 5 cm step into the pub from the garden. Step free access to bar, seating (except snug) and toilets. Toilets are not wheelchair accessible no grab rails, toilet access restricted opening of 70 cm doors.
