This former Vaux pub has been managed by the same family for over 40 years and dates from about 1867.With walls & shelves adorned with local memorabilia it "starred" in a fly-on-the-wall documentary in 2013 highlighting its position as a welcoming community pub. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2711716/) Up to three hand pulled beers are available. A selection of canned and bottled beers are also usually available. Note the small table with the Sunderland AFC tiled top

The Vaults does open earlier whenever Sunderland have a home game and when they have live bands on Sunday afternoons.
