May 2021 McGoverns pub in Cricklewood has turned into a restaurant. No planning applications lodged, so reported to Brent enforcement. Spicy Basil.

0/4102 | First and second floor rear extension and roof alterations to facilitate 5 bedroom ancillary accommodation to Public House, cycle and waste storage to first floor rear and frosted windows to front elevation. | 147 Cricklewood Broadway, London, NW2 3HY

Interesting one - this implies the extension would be for staff use?

Planning application (19/2054) Change of use from Public house (use class A4) to restaurant (use class A3) and alterations to the front elevation was withdrawn by the application on 7th August. Before the application was withdrawn there were 2 supporting comments and one neutral, no objections. Local residents were keen for the applicant Spicy Basil in Kilburn to open a branch in Cricklewood. North West Two Residents Association had no interest from local residents in starting a campaign to save the pub.

From Facebook - "McGoverns on Saturday night 26th January 2019. At around midnight. It closed its doors to the public for the last time. A sad day for Cricklewood. The end Of An Era For Sure. What will we do now for a local. Please someone come to the rescue. Please. Keep McGoverns s traditional Irish Pub. Not. A Spicy Basil No 2 Thai Eatery. Oh lord NO. Come on there must be a rich Irishman who can save the day. The older Irish mainly men and the younger generation need this pub to survive. If you had seen the turnout on Saturday night for Austins last night. You would realise how much this pub is loved and how Austin is respected. The young came down in droves. All Austins locals were there. Anyone who didn't support him was either ill, busy, of downright ignorant. McGoverns is the best pub in Cricklewood . The best Guinness in London. That's a fact.

Please someone come up with the money. It isn't even that expensive."

Converted from bank around 1991. No real ale.
