In a hamlet with an old parish church, old stocks and little else is this independently-owned free house. Behind the 1679 datestone and old oak door, a flagged passage leads to a light and airy bar with cosy dining areas. Tables at the front of the pub plus on a patio at the rear in a small but attractive beer garden with a view of Ingleborough. There are a few locals but most of the trade is from tourists. Ten minutes' walk from the start of the Waterfalls Walk. More beers in summer, fewer in the depths of winter. Muddy boots & soggy dogs welcome. Open Bank Holidays. Eleven ensuite rooms. Two changing cask ales come from breweries like Kirkby Lonsdale and Wensleydale.
