Busy village pub in a secluded small village close to the Cloud Trail that is popular with walkers and cyclists. The Malt Shovel is a free house owned and run by the local Tivey and Gallagher families, serving Pedigree plus a guest bitter.

The Worthington 6 mile Fun Run starts from the pub, as do various equestrian events. Bingo: last Tuesday of the month. Village Bonfire around November 5th.

Closing times may be flexible if customers remain thirsty. Fresh filled cobs daily. Seasonal BBQs and Friday evening food vans.
