Mad Dog Brewery moved from rural Monmouthshire to this site opposite Cardiff Castle in 2022. Its real ales had been quite highly thought of but in Cardiff it concentrates on producing keg beers, with only the occasional cask beer which, when available, tends to be served direct from a cask on the bar counter. The pub itself has a minimalist feel to it. Sandwiches and light meals are served.
