This fine country pub on the village green is set in a lovely 17th-century Grade II-listed building, with friendly, welcoming staff. Up to four ales from the Marston's list are on offer, including seasonal beers. The comfortable interior features timber ceiling and pillars, real fires and a 19th-century carved oak bar. A fairy-light lit beer garden, patio and children's play area are to the rear. Accessible from York by bus or rail.
