17C formerly two cottages. Previous owners include Strongs, Whitbread and Gibbs Mew. In the 80s, when Gibbs Mew used their horse dray for delivery in the city, the stables at the rear of the pub gave bedding to Danny and Dylan, the two shire horses. In 2024, the lease was acquired by James England and the Chickpea Group and the pub had a major refurbishment to convert the lounge bar into a cafe and tidy up the main bar. The courtyard had a makeover and a pentanque court was added and the pub was renamed Hettie Bells.
