Harrogate Brewing have acquired this pub, formerly The Old Bell, and now showcase their brewery’s beers in a town centre site. Six cask ales are served, normally all from Harrogate Brewing with an occasional guest from another local brewery. There are also many keg options. Beer choices including ABVs and prices are displayed (intermittently) on a TV screen opposite the bar (except when the TV is showing special sporting events such as Six Nations).

A snack menu is available Monday to Wednesday all day, while on Thursday to Sunday meals are served until 8pm (4pm on Sunday).

The brewery itself is located a couple of miles out of town at Hookstone Chase with its own taproom which opens at weekends (see separate listing).

NB. Significant markup (60p/pint) on half pints.

Historic Interest

The pub sits on the site of the Blue Bell Inn which closed in 1815 and was later demolished. President Bill Clinton visited the inn during a visit to Harrogate in 2001. Later the same year the pub expanded into the former Farrah's toffee shop.
