Open-plan pub with a single bar now offering two ales permanently on tap along with one ever-changing guest beer from small local brewers. Cellar refitted in Jan 2012 and the current owner (as at October 2025) purchased it in 2013. Pub is popular with local football and cricket teams. The building dates from the early 19th century and has a L-shaped counter in a large open-plan single bar and a large garden and car-park.

Historic Interest

Prior to 1851, the pub was in Stoke by Nayland so may appear in old records under that village. In Mar 1981 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that Peter & Janet at the Hare & Hounds were hosting folk club nights (last Tues of month) & offering GK beers on gravity.
