Opened in 1994 in the former Pearson's menswear shop whose antecedents supplied tailored goods to Queen Victoria. A long narrowish dark wood panelled bar extends into a raised eating area at the rear. Coloured glass ceiling light, mirrors, fake fireplaces and more dusty books complete the picture. The front section boasts old framed advertisements for local businesses on the walls and local old photographs can be found throughout. The building is grade II listed. Alcohol served from 9am.

Historic Interest

Grade II listing:- Probably a range of C17 or earlier timber-framed buildings with later facades. Nos 130, 131 and the left bay of No 132 share a late C18 front of 3 storeys, 5 windows, in pinkish brick with stone coped parapet. High pitched roofs behind, part slated, part tiled. Gauged flat brick arches to later windows, some sashes, some casements, some pivoted. Modern shops on ground floor. The 2 right bays of No 132 share with No 133 a 2-storey C18 front of pinkish brick with red brick gauged window arches and diagonal brick cornice. Old tiled roof hipped at left with the end of a higher roof ridge peeping over. Later recessed sash windows. Modern shops on ground floor. Central carriageway to Johnson's yard.
